For selecting a pressure gauge, what information should I have before contacting a distributor or sales rep?

  1. What type of pressure gauge do you want (oil pressure, water pressure, etc)
  2. What range do you need to cover (eg: 0-80PSI)
  3. Do you want a mechanical or electric pressure gauge (sales rep can help you decide this question)
  4. Do you require lighting in the instrument
  5. Are you running on a 12V or a 24V system (voltage adapters are available)
  6. Diameter of the opening the instrument will be mounted in
  7. What type of environment will the instrument be used in (eg: highway; high moisture; off-road; stationary equipment; etc)

If you wish to try and match an existing sender, what is the electrical match of the sender (see question on mixing Stewart Warner instruments and senders with non-Stewart Warner instruments and senders) Your distributor may be able to help you with this if you know the brand and part number.

If you wish to match the style of existing instruments you should also have the following:

  1. If your current instruments are a Stewart Warner line, which line (Seaworthy, Heavy Duty Plus, etc) (see the Stewart Warner Products page for the product lines)
  2. Bezel color wanted (black, polished, etc)
  3. Dial face and graphics (black dial, white numbers, SAE symbols, etc)
  4. Pointer type and color (eg: red with black hub)

You should also provide information on the pressure sender you will need by following the guidelines in the "Selecting a pressure sender" question.
